It’s quite easy to reach The Armitt Library & Museum Centre in the middle of Ambleside car-free, as the bus stop is just a 5-minute stroll away.

Bus 599 and bus 555 run frequently from: Bowness-on-Windermere (about 40 mins), Windermere train station (20 mins), Brockhole (20 mins) and Grasmere (15 mins).

Bus 555 runs regularly from: Lancaster, Carnforth, Kendal (50 mins) and Keswick (40 mins).

Bus 505 runs regularly from Coniston (40 mins) and Hawkshead (20 mins).

There are direct trains to Windermere from: Manchester (110 mins), Preston (55 mins), Lancaster (35 mins), Oxenholme (20 mins) and Kendal (15 mins). There are connections from London, Glasgow, Carlisle and all cities in the North of England.
