These bespoke tours start from an agreed point, often from a train or bus station in Windermere, Kendal or Oxenholme. You can use the journey planner above to find train and bus times to the start of your tour.

There are regular trains to Windermere, in the heart of the Lakes, from Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Lancaster and Oxenholme. Oxenholme has direct trains from Edinburgh, Glasgow Central, London Euston and Manchester Airport.

When you travel by train to Windermere, a Windermere PlusBus ticket gives you unlimited bus travel in selected areas of Bowness-on-Windermere, Troutbeck Bridge, Waterhead, Ambleside and Grasmere. A Kendal and Oxenholme PlusBus ticket gets you around the area as far as Burneside.

Windermere also has some scenic buses from outside the railway station heading all over the Lakes. These include regular bus 555, which runs all the way to Keswick via Ambleside and Grasmere, and bus 599  (frequent) from Windermere to Bowness and Kendal.

Use our journey planner to get the best route from where you are.
