It’s easy to visit Wightwick Manor and Gardens car-free.
Buses stop outside from Wolverhampton (15 mins) and Bridgnorth (30 mins). Others stop nearby from Wolverhampton and Dudley (65 mins).
There are direct trains to Wolverhampton from: Birmingham New Street (20 mins), Sandwell & Dudley (15 mins), Stafford (15 mins), Stoke-On-Trent (30 mins), Telford (20 mins) and much further afield.
Wolverhampton station is also on the Metro and there are direct buses from Walsall (35 mins) and elsewhere.

You can walk from Wolverhampton, along the Wolverhampton Ring, or on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal Walk. The Shropshire Union Canal is also at the far edge of Wolverhampton.

By bus and foot from Wolverhampton
Monday to Saturday:
Bus 9 stops at the pedestrian entrance. Buses leave from Thornley Street Stop AV (sheltered) or bus station Stand B (sheltered) regularly. It’s about a 15-minute journey. Hop off at the Mermaid pub on Bridgnorth Road. Cross at the lights. After that, it’s about a 2-minute walk forwards to the pedestrian entrance or car-park.
Monday to Sunday:
Bus 3 leaves from University Stop AD or Art Gallery Stop BB (sheltered) frequently (regularly on Sundays). It’s about a 20-minute journey. Hop off at Castlecroft Hotel. It’s then about a 15-minute walk.
Bus 10 leaves from Thronley Street Stop AV (sheltered) or bus station Stand H (sheltered) regularly. It’s about a 15-minute journey. Hop off at Tettenhall Wood. It’s then about a 20-minute walk.
Bus 1 and another bus 1 leave from Princess Street Stop AW or Art Gallery Stop BA (sheltered) frequently. It’s about a 20-minute journey. Hop off at Tettenhall Wood. It’s then about a 20-minute walk. Bus 10A also runs on week days to Tettenhall Wood.

By bus and foot from Bridgnorth
Bus 9 stops at the pedestrian entrance. Buses leave Sainsburys (sheltered) or the Harp Inn regularly (none on Sundays). It’s about a 30-minute journey. Hop off at the Mermaid pub on Bridgnorth Road. It’s then about a 2-minute walk back to the pedestrian entrance or car-park.
By train or Metro from further afield
Wolverhampton station is in West Midlands Metro zone 4.
Wolverhampton is in West Midlands train zone 5. There are direct services from nearby:
- Birmingham New Street (20 mins),
- Coventry (45 mins),
- Crewe (35 mins),
- Sandwell & Dudley (15 mins),
- Shrewsbury (35 mins),
- Stafford (15 mins),
- Stoke-On-Trent (30 mins)
- Telford (20 mins) and
- Walsall (60 mins).
There are also trains from further afield: Aberystwyth (2.5 hrs), Bournemouth (3.5 hrs), Liverpool Lime Street (85 mins), Manchester Piccadilly (70 mins) and Oxford (100 mins).

By bus from other towns
There are direct buses to Wolverhampton from:
- Birmingham city centre (bus X8, 90 mins),
- Cannock (bus 70, bus 71, bus 67, 50 mins),
- Dudley (bus X8, 30 mins or bus 1 to nearby Tettenhall Wood, 65 mins),
- Stafford (bus 878, bus 877, 90 mins),
- Telford (bus 891, 50 mins) and
- Walsall (a different bus 9, 35 mins).
Bus 62A runs from Newbridge to Tettenhall Wood.

By boat
Moor canal boats at Wightwick Bridge No.56 on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.
Groups can pre-book a boat ride from Wildside Activity Centre.

Wightwick Manor and Gardens has become one of the outstanding examples of a Victorian house furnished in the Aesthetic style. Between the Manor and the Gallery, there is an incredible collection of Pre-Raphaelite art and original William Morris wallpaper and fabrics. The beautiful 17 acres of gardens are perfect for exploring and with a full programme of events throughout the year, there is always something to see and do.
The site includes a William Morris inspired shop, second handbook shop and a tearoom offering delicious food and drinks.
