Visit Hepworth Wakefield car-free

From Wakefield Kirkgate station, the gallery is a five-minute stroll over the river and from Wakefield Westgate, it’s about twenty minutes’ walk.

There are regular trains to Wakefield Kirkgate from Leeds and Nottingham and to Wakefield Westgate from Leeds, Doncaster, Sheffield, London Kings Cross, Newcastle and Scotland.

FreeCityBus stops outside both stations and the gallery every ten minutes (not Sundays).

Wakefield’s art gallery has an award-winning home, set in big newly-designed waterfront gardens. Hosting major international exhibitions of contemporary art, there’s also a permanent collection of works by modern British artists from L.S. Lowry, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth to Maggi Hambling and Martin Parr.
