Visit Washington Wetland Centre car-free
It’s easy to visit Washington Wetland Centre car-free.
Bus 8 runs frequently from Sunderland Park Lane Interchange (stop K) on the Green Metro line. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Hop off at Waterview Park. From there it is about a 5-minute stroll to Washington Wetland Centre.
There are direct buses to Washington town centre from Newcastle, Gateshead, Durham or South Shields. Change for bus 8 (5 mins).
There are direct trains to Sunderland (a 10 minute walk from Sunderland Interchange) from: Newcastle (20 mins), Middlesbrough (60 mins) and Hexham (65 mins).

About Washington Wetland Centre
The wildlife reserve and duck hatchery also has flamingos, otters and woodlands. Children can enjoy the Working Wetland Garden with Water Lab, Playscape and Archimedes Screw and a series of events.
