Visit Tynemouth Aquarium car-free
You can get to Tynemouth Aquarium on bus 1 or bus 306 from Gateshead, Central Newcastle and North Shields. Buses run frequently, and the journey from Central Newcastle is about 1 hour. Hop off at Tynemouth Beach Road / Grand Parade for a short walk to the Aquarium.
The nearest Tyne and Wear Metro Station is Cullercoats, which is a 15-minute walk along the sea front to the Aquarium.
If you travel on the Shields Ferry, bus 19 connects with the ferry at North Shields Ferry Terminal for the 9-minute journey to North Shields Metro Station (ferry tickets valid on the bus). Change there to the Tyne and Wear Metro for Cullercoats.
If you are coming from further afield, the nearest station is Newcastle, which is served by regular East Coast Mainline services from London, York and Darlington, also from Edinburgh and Berwick. Transpenine services run from Manchester and Leeds, and local services run from Carlisle and Hexham, Morpeth, Middlesborough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Sunderland. Then hop on the Metro (Yellow Line) to Cullercoats, which takes 30-minutes, and from there it is a 15-minute walk along the seafront to the Aquarium.
