It’s a scenic 20-minute train journey along the Gainsborough Line to Sudbury. Change at Marks Tey, which has direct trains from: London Liverpool Street (60 mins, via Stratford and Shenfield), Colchester (25 mins) and Chelmsford (5 mins).
There are direct buses to Sudbury from: Colchester (50 mins) and Bury St Edmunds (60 mins).

By train
There are direct trains to Marks Tey from:
- Essex: Colchester (about 5 mins), Witham (10 mins) and Chelmsford (25 mins).
- London: Shenfield (35 mins), Stratford (50 mins) and London Liverpool Street (60 mins, connected to Moorgate train station via tunnel).
Connections: Change at Colchester to get to Marks Tey from Ipswich (20 mins) or Norwich (60 mins).
Trains from Marks Tey to Sudbury take 20 minutes, stopping at: Chappel & Wakes Colne, and Bures.
Sudbury Arts Centre is a 5-10 minute stroll away.
By bus from Colchester
Bus 43 and bus 44 run direct from Colchester to the centre of Sudbury. Buses leave from Osborne Street shetlers, Head Street shops shelters or the train station shelters regularly, none on Sundays. The journey takes about 50 minutes. Hop off at Sudbury bus station (sheltered). It’s then about a 5-minute stroll.
By bus from Bury St Edmunds
Bus 42 and bus 43 plus bus 45 run from Bury St Edmunds to the centre of Sudbury. Buses leave from Bury St Edmunds bus station (stand 6, sheltered) regularly (none on Sundays). The journey takes about 60 minutes. Hop off at Sudbury bus station (sheltered). It’s then about a 5-minute stroll.
By bus from other towns
There are also buses from: Acton (bus 700, 15 mins), Clare (bus 41, 35 mins), Glemsford (bus 41 20 mins), Great Cornard (buses 43 and 44, 5 mins) and Long Melford (buses 41 and 43, 10 mins).
