About Ely Cathedral
An architectural marvel with its octagonal tower and soaring columns, Benedictine monks built the cathedral in the eleventh-century when Ely was just a tiny hamlet on an island in the fens. Visit the UK’s only dedicated stained glass museum and take a tour of the iconic towers (extra fee). For more ideas in the area, see our car-free guide to Ely.
