About Caernarfon Castle
The massive, dramatic curtain walls of Caenarfon Castle tower over the wide River Seiont where it meets the whirling Menai Strait. One of Edward I’s palatial Welsh fortresses, it took nearly 50 years for the English king and his military architect to build the castle, town walls and harbour here.
