About Ad Gefrin

Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery, in the heart of Northumberland, reimagines and celebrates the Golden Age of Northumbria. Ad Gefrin offers an ancient hospitality and spirit of belonging to visitors of its Great Hall, Museum, Distillery Tours and Tastings, Bēodern Bistro, and Shop.

Inspired by one of the last century’s most significant archaeological discoveries, found at Yeavering, Wooler; Ad Gefrin reimagines the 7th century court of the Kings and Queens of Northumbria, illuminates the stories of the people who inhabited the royal palace, and celebrates the craftsmanship, accomplishments, and creativity that formed the Golden Age of Northumbria.

The Museum is the stepping off point for a tour of the distillery – home to the first Northumbrian English Single Malt whisky – from mashing and distilling, to casking and maturing, before immersing you in a multi-sensory tasting experience, the epitome of ancient hospitality and a timeless welcome.
