How to get toRSPB Bowers Marshcar-free

Visit RSPB Bowers Marsh car-free

Visit by bus for just £2 each way. Most buses in England are offering £2 Single Fares until 31st December 2024. Our journey planner will show you if your route is included, or you can find a full list of participating operators and routes here.

From Benfleet railway station, the edge of the reserve is less than a mile’s walk along a path near East Haven Creek (come prepared for mud in all but the driest weather!) Cross the road outside the station and turn right along the creek with the water on your left. The reserve starts just beyond the main road and you’ll see lots of wildlife before that.

There are regular trains to Benfleet and (slightly fewer to) Pitsea from London Fenchurch Street (45 minutes).

Frequent bus 22 to Canvey island and bus 28 to Southend both stop about a mile from the reserve near the Gun pub on London Road (‘Bowers Gifford, opp Church Road’).

Use our journey planner to get the best route from where you are.

About RSPB Bowers Marsh

With lagoons of fresh and salty water, marshes fields and meadows, Bowers Marsh was grazed by centuries of cattle before becoming a wildlife reserve. Look out summer skylarks and butterflies or for many birds of prey, widgeon, and finches in the winter.
