There’s a regular bus to Rosemoor from Exeter and Barnstaple. You can also take a scenic rail journey to Barnstaple and continue by bus or taxi, or by riding the Tarka Trail cycle path. Our journey planner above will show you train and bus times and walking routes.

Cyclists welcome and bike racks are provided. National Route 3 (The Tarka Trail) passes close to Rosemoor. It’s a delightful 16.5mile ride to RHS Rosemoor from Barnstaple Station. Here’s a map of the 2-mile link from the Tarka Trail to the Gardens – note that the last 1/3 mile is on a main road. Plan your cycle route here.
You can hire bikes from Tarka Trail Cycle Hire at Barnstaple Station, or Torrington Cycle Hire.
The Tarka Trail is a multi-use path, and can also be followed by walkers.

By bus from Exeter via Crediton
Bus 5B leaves from Exeter’s Paris Street Bus Station (Stop 16), every couple of hours Monday to Saturday (no buses Sunday). It’s a scenic 95-minute journey to Rosemoor, where the bus stops right at the entrance. There are bus connections from all towns in East and South Devon to Exeter. By bus from Barnstaple via Bideford and Torrington
Bus 5B leaves from Barnstaple Bus Station (Stand H), every couple hours Monday to Saturday (no buses Sunday). It’s a scenic 50-minute journey to Rosemoor, where the bus stops right at the entrance. There are bus connections from all towns in North Devon to Barnstaple or Bideford. Our journey planner will show you bus times.
By and bus via Exeter
Trains to Exeter St Davids run direct from Plymouth, Taunton, Salisbury, Bristol, Birmingham and London. Local trains run to Exeter St Davids from Paignton, Torquay, Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Dawlish and Exmouth.
Bus 5B leaves from in front of the station (Stop A), every couple of Monday to Saturday (no buses Sunday). It’s a scenic 85-minute journey to Rosemoor, where the bus stops right at the entrance. Our journey planner will show you train and bus times.
Train and bus via Barnstaple
Trains run hourly from Exeter Central and Exeter St Davids to Barnstaple on the scenic Tarka Line.
From Barnstaple you can hop on Bus 5B from outside the station to Rosemoor (every couple of hours except Sundays, journey time 50 minutes), take a taxi from the rank, or cycle on the Tarka Trail.
Alternatively, you can leave the train at Umberleigh (request stop), and book a taxi to meet you there for a slightly shorter and cheaper journey to Rosemoor.
