Visit A la Ronde car-free
It’s easy to visit A la Ronde and Lower Halsdon Farm car-free.
They are a pleasant half-hour walk from one another in Exmouth.
Exmouth can be reached from Exeter by bus (35 mins + 5-10 min walk) or train (25 mins + longer walk).
Starcross ferries run in the Summer.

Scenic Avocet Line train line runs from Exeter to Exmouth. The Tarka Line runs to Exeter from Barnstaple and the Riviera Line runs to Exeter from Paignton. Find out more.
Cycle path National Route 2, the Exe Estuary Trail, runs from Exeter to Exmouth past Lower Haldon Farm.

A La Ronde has bike stand in the car-park and railing to attach your bike to.
Footpath, the East Devon Way passes A La Ronde, Lympstone and Lower Halsdon Farm via the multi-use trail, coming from Lyme Regis. You can walk to Orcombe Point. The South West Coast Path goes through Exmouth too.

By ferry
Seasonal ferries cross the Exe Estuary from Starcross to Exmouth.
To Lower Halsdon Farm: Walk 30 mins or take bus 57 from Savoy Cinema Stop D to Shell Garage (5 mins).
To A La Ronde: Walk 55 mins or take bus 57 from Savoy Cinema Stop D to Courtlands Cross (5-10 mins).
By bus from Exeter
Bus 57 stops near both A La Ronde and Lower Halsdon Farm. These are the stops on the route:
- 0 mins – Exeter bus station shelter 4,
- 20 mins – The Nelson near Topsham Ferry from Exminster area
- 20 mins – Topsham train station stop D,
- 35 mins – Lympstone Saddlers Arms
- 35 mins – Courtlands Cross – 5 mins walk to A La Ronde
- 40 mins – Shell Garage – 10 mins walk to Lower Halsdon Farm
- 45 mins – Exmouth Parade, 5 mins from Exmouth train station, 10 mins from Exmouth Landing
By train
There are direct trains to Exmouth from: Digby & Sowton, Exeter Central (25 mins), Exeter St David’s (30 mins), Exon, Newcourt, Polsloe Bridge, St James Park Exeter and Topsham.
To Lower Halsdon Farm: Walk 15-20 mins.
To A La Ronde: Walk for 40 minutes or change for bus 57 at Savoy Cinema. You can also jump off at Lympstone and walk for 35 minutes.
By train via Exeter

About A la Ronde
Another world awaits inside this 1790’s 16-sided house. Walls are decorated with feathers, shells and pictures made of seaweed and sand, and every space contains mementoes from the travels of Jane and Mary Parminter, the creators of this extravaganza.
Outside there’s an orchard, hay meadow and colourful borders, with views over the Exe Estuary.
