It’s 15-25 minutes from the train and bus stops at Birchington-On-Sea near Margate.

Trains run to Birchington-On-Sea from: Chatham (50 mins), Dover Priory (60 mins), Faversham (25 mins), Ramsgate (15 mins), London St Pancras, Victoria or Stratford (1.5 hrs) and other towns.

Buses run to Birchington-On-Sea from: Canterbury (35 mins), Herne Bay (20 mins) and towns across the Isle of Thanet.

Southeastern have a range of train tickets, including a Kent Rover and offers covering most of this area. A Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs PlusBus train ticket is valid to Birchington. Buses are operated by Stagecoach.

The Powell-Cotton Museum offers an exciting, fun and interactive day out for the whole family. Join us on a safari and discover awesome animals in our natural history galleries. Journey through time and across cultures with our amazing collection of art and archaeology. Get your hands on in The Cube where you can handle over 400 objects.
Throughout the year we offer an exciting programme of events and activities. Children can borrow a backpack buddy, full of tools and equipment to help them explore. If you want a gentler pace, join a free guided tour of Quex House, formerly home to the Powell-Cotton family. Beautifully decorated with international influence, the interiors reflect the travels of the museums founder, Percy Powell-Cotton.

No country house would be complete without extensive gardens and Quex House is no exception. There are seven acres of beautiful, informal gardens available for you to explore, including lawns, herbaceous borders, exotic trees, a woodland walk, and a historic walled garden. There is a continuous path around the gardens which is great for wheelchair users.
