It’s a real adventure to reach Dunstanburgh Castle car-free, with an about 25-minute stroll along the sea front.

Bus X18 runs regularly from Alnwick bus station (stand 5). The journey takes about 20 minutes. Jump off at the Harbour in Craster. It’s then about a 25-minute walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. The bus also runs from: Newcastle, Morpeth and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

The nearest train station to Alnwick is Alnmouth, and bus X18 also stops here. There are direct trains to Alnmouth from: Newcastle (30 mins), Durham (40 mins), Edinburgh (60 mins), Darlington (60 mins), Doncaster (70 mins), York (90 mins), Glasgow (2 hrs 10 mins) and from London and the South West via Birmingham, Sheffield and Leeds.
