There are direct trains to Hexham from Newcastle, Sunderland, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough. You can hop on the AD122 at Hexham station (Stand B). If you’re coming from Carlisle you can join the AD122, at Haltwhistle station. National Rail.
Ask at the rail station for a combined ticket for the train and the AD122 bus.
Alternatively (especially if you have a bus pass), you may like to do the whole trip by bus. The X84/X85 bus runs direct from Newcastle to Hexham and you can buy a combined Hadrian’s Frontier ticket.
