2 Step-by-step

Trains run to Hexham from Newcastle, Sunderland, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough. Hop on the AD122 at Hexham station (Stand B). If you’re coming from Carlisle join the AD122, at Haltwhistle station.

Ask at the rail station for a combined ticket for the train and the AD122 bus.

Train times and prices

Alternatively (especially if you have a bus pass), you may like to do the whole trip by bus. Bus X84/X85 runs direct from Newcastle to Hexham and you can buy a combined Hadrian’s Frontier ticket.

National Route 72 links Newcastle and Carlisle with Hexham and Haltwhistle. You can plan your cycle route at cyclestreets. Sorry, you can’t take bikes (except folders) on board the AD122.
