Bus 21 from Haymarket Bus station in Newcastle stops on Durham Road, just 2 minutes’ walk from the gallery.
Bus 52, a Go North East bus from Gateshead Interchange, stops directly outside the gallery on Prince Consort Road.

Bus 52 from Gateshead Interchange stops directly outside the gallery on Prince Consort Road. The journey takes 5-10 minutes.

- Gateshead Interchange (buses 21 ‘Angel’ and bus 22, 5-10 mins)
- Heworth Interchange (bus 52, 15 mins)
- Metrocentre Interchange (bus 67, 25 mins)
- Newcastle Outside Central Station (bus 54, 15 mins) or on the bridge (buses 21 ‘Angel’, bus 56 ‘Cityrider’ or bus 57, 15 mins).
- Newcastle Monument (bus 56 ‘Cityrider’ or bus 57, 15 mins)
By Metro
There are direct services to Gateshead (zone A) station on the Green or Yellow lines from:
Airport (30 mins), Four Lane Ends (20 mins), Heworth (5-10 mins), North Shields (35 mins), Northumberland Park (25 mins), Regent Centre (15 mins), South Shields(25 mins) and Sunderland (35 mins).
At Gateshead Interchange, change for buses 21 ‘Angel’ or bus 22 (5-10 mins).
Otherwise, it’s about a 20-minute walk along High West Street and Durham Road.
By train
There are direct trains to Newcastle from:
- Gateshead (5 mins), Hartlepool (55 mins), Middlesbrough (65 mins), Sunderland (20 mins).
- Northumberland Line: Ashington (35 mins) via Blyth.
- Tyne Valley Line: Carlisle (80 mins), Haltwhistle (55 mins), Hexham (35 mins).
- Northern East Coast Mainline: Alnmouth (25 mins), Berwick-upon-Tweed (45 mins), Chathill (60 mins), Morpeth (15 mins) and Edinburgh (85 mins)
- Southern East Coast Mainline: Darlington (35 mins), Durham (10 mins), Northallerton (45 mins), York (55 mins).
- Further south: Doncaster (90 mins), London (3 hrs), Peterborough (2 hrs).
