View quaint hills and hear them narrated with an audio tour on the scenic Cotswold Line from Hereford via Malvern and Charlbury (Brunel’s Italianate station) to Oxford. There’s also an audio guide for the train-line between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway.
Look out for heritage viaducts, canal tunnels, and the beginnings of the river Thames as you travel among the Cotswold’s honey-stone and hills. There isn’t any dedicated lockable space at either cottage but guests can bring their bikes to the rear of the property and secure them to something there.
Bike spaces can be reserved on GWR trains. Hire bikes from Cotswold Woolen Weavers if you can get to Filkins, otherwise TY Cycles deliver. In Oxford visit OxBykes, Bainton Bikes, or Oxford Cargo Bikes.
Find walks near The Chestnuts (35 minutes to Carterton and 60 minutes to Burford) or Culls Cottage (60 minutes to Lechlade).

There are direct buses to Shilton from:
- Burford The Hill (bus 233, 10 mins)
- Cirencester The Forum (bus 77, 55 mins)
- Lechlade Market Place (bus 77, 20 mins)
- Witney Market Square B (bus 233, 20 mins)
Hop off at Shilton Turn.
It’s then a 5-minute walk. Head down the surfaced road on a slight hill, with a little stone wall to the left. Cross the bridge at the ford and turn Right.
By bus to Culls Cottage
The Robin on-demand bus can be pre-booked within the rural area around Eastleache Turville, Lechlade-on-Thames, Northleach, Cirencester and Tetbury.
By train or coach and taxi via Oxford
There are direct trains to Oxford from:

Our two historic Cotswold stone cottages (The Chestnuts and Culls Cottage) sit in quintessential picturesque rural Cotswolds villages. Hear the birds sing and you can appreciate the joys of countryside life. Each village has a wonderful village pub serving excellent food and Culls Cottage also has a superb restaurant and spa within walking distance. At The Chestnuts you can walk to The Cotswold Wildlife park which together with its animals has wonderful gardens. The Cotswold Woollen weavers and Kelmscot Manor are also nearby.
