It’s easy to visit ‘Forestry England Westonbirt The National Arboretum’, The National Arboretum car-free as buses stop at the entrance, located outside Tetbury.
Flexi-buses can be booked in advance from Kemble train station and Cirencester.
Buses run from: Stroud (50 mins) and Bath (85 mins), close to the train stations.

Book the on-demand bus / flexi-bus The Robin in advance and check the operating times. This runs across the rural area near Kemble train station, Tetbury, Cirencester, Lechlade-on-Thames and Northleach.
Option 2:
Bus 620 (Stagecoach) stops at the entrance. Buses leave a few times per day (none on Sundays) from:
- Bath bus station (85 mins)
- Mitchinhampton Market Square (30 mins)
- Stroud Merrywalks shelter by the cinema (50 mins)
- Tetbury Long Street shelter (5 mins)
- Yate shopping centre shelter or Pitchcombe (30 mins).
Jump off at the bus stop for Westonbirt Arboretumn. There’s a black sign and small stone wall with trees behind – ask the driver to help you know when to stop.
By train and bus via Stroud
There are direct trains to Stroud from:
- Golden Valley Line + audio guide: Cheltenham Spa (30 mins), Gloucester (15 mins), Kemble (15 mins), Swindon (25 mins)
- London line audio guide: Didcot Parkway (45 mins), London Paddington (85 mins), Reading (60 mins).
