How to get toMargam Country Parkcar-free

Visit Margam Country Park car-free

It’s easy to reach Margam Country Park near Port Talbot car-free, as buses stop at the main entrance.

Bus X1, a Cymru Clipper runs frequently (less on Sundays) from Swansea bus station (stand G). The journey takes about 55 minutes. Hop off at the main entrance. Bus X1 also runs from Port Talbot bus station and train stations (10-15 mins) and Bridgend bus station (25 mins, and a 5-minute walk from the train station).

There are direct trains to Bridgend from: Cardiff Central (20 mins), Newport (30 mins), Bristol Parkway (55 mins), Aberdare and Cheltenham. There are direct trains to Port Talbot Parkway from: Swansea (20 mins), Llanelli (50 mins) and Milford Haven. Trains from London Paddington and Manchester Piccadilly stop at both stations.

About Margam Country Park

This 850 acre historic estate includes a castle with grade 1 listed gardens and wildlife areas with herds of deer. Augmented Reality adventures are available with the Love Explore app. Other activities include Go Ape (high ropes course), boating, orienteering and historic sound installations. For families, there is a miniature railway, fairytale village (child size houses), adventure playground and musical sculpture trail.
