From Gretna Green railway station, it’s a ten-minute stroll to the Blacksmith’s Shop. An off-road path from the station leads to the road called Gretna Loaning, whose pavement will take you the rest of the way.

There are regular trains to Gretna Green from Carlisle (13 mins), Dumfries (25 mins) and beyond.

Just north of the border between England and Scotland, Gretna Green was a popular destination for eloping lovers since the early 18th century. Now a by-word for romance, this historic blacksmith’s shop is now a visitor attraction with museum, shops, cafés and – of course – wedding venues!
