There are direct trains to York from London and many other cities.

Train times and tickets

CastleLine bus runs direct from York to Castle Howard, for The Yorkshire Arboretum, taking one hour. Get off at The Obelisk, by the entrance to Castle Howard.

It's a 5-minute walk from the bus stop to the Arboretum.

Coming from further afield, you can either take the train to York to catch the CastleLine bus (as above), or take the train or Coastliner bus to Malton and pick up the CastleLine bus or a taxi from there.

There are tree trails to follow and a programme of walks, talks and family activities. The Arboretum Café specialises in fresh home-cooked food made with locally-sourced ingredients.

Dogs are welcome on leads and there's a generous designated off-lead area too.

The Arboretum is 4.5 miles off National route 166. It’s a 1-hour cycle from Malton station – here’s the route. Enjoy 50% off entry when you arrive by bike.
