The CastleLine bus runs from York and Malton to Castle Howard four times a day (Monday-Saturday). It’s a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to the Arboretum. By bus from York
Ride bus 81 from York Station Avenue (stop RM) or from Stonebow (stop SB) direct to Castle Howard. Next, walk for about 5-minutes to The Yorkshire Arboretum The buses run a few times per day (none on Sundays), take one hour, and drop you right at the entrance.

By bus from Malton
Take the CastleLine bus from Malton Bus Station (Stand 3) direct to Castle Howard. Buses run a few times a day (Monday to Saturday), the journey takes about 25 minutes. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to the Arboretum.
If you’re travelling from Scarborough catch bus 843 to Malton, changing there to the CastleLine bus. From Thornton Dale or Pickering catch bus 840 to Malton.
By train and bus via York
Ride the train to York direct from London, Peterborough and Doncaster, also from Edinburgh, Newcastle, Durham and Darlington. There are also regular train services to York from the South-West and The Midlands, Liverpool and Manchester, and from throughout Yorkshire. Malton Bus Station is right by the Rail Station. The CastleLine bus runs a few times a day (Monday to Saturday), reaching Castle Howard in about 25 minutes (or a taxi from Malton Station).
