There are direct trains to York from London and many other cities.

The CastleLine bus runs direct to Castle Howard, for The Yorkshire Arboretum, taking one hour. Get off at The Obelisk, by the entrance to Castle Howard.

Open from March to November, the Yorkshire Arboretum offers 120 acres of peace and tranquillity on the historic Castle Howard estate. Nestled in a beautiful sheltered valley, you'll find a botanically diverse tree collection, wildflower meadows, sweeping vistas and native wildlife.

There are tree trails to follow and a programme of walks, talks and family activities. The Arboretum Café specialises in fresh home-cooked food made with locally-sourced ingredients.

Dogs are welcome on leads and there's a generous designated off-lead area too.
