Visit The Yorkshire Arboretum car-free
The CastleLine bus runs from York and Malton to Castle Howard four times a day (Monday-Saturday). It’s a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to the Arboretum. You can take the train to York or Malton and continue by bus or taxi to Castle Howard. Our journey planner will show you train and bus times and walking routes.

The North Yorkshire Centenary Way passes through the Castle Howard Estate, a short way from the Arboretum.

About The Yorkshire Arboretum
Open from March to November, the Yorkshire Arboretum offers 120 acres of peace and tranquillity on the historic Castle Howard estate. Nestled in a beautiful sheltered valley, you'll find a botanically diverse tree collection, wildflower meadows, sweeping vistas and native wildlife. There are tree trails to follow and a programme of walks, talks and family activities. The Arboretum Café specialises in fresh home-cooked food made with locally-sourced ingredients. Dogs are welcome on leads and there's a generous designated off-lead area too.
