If you’re travelling by train from outside Greater Manchester to Manchester, Wigan or Bolton, you can add cheap bus travel to you ticket with PlusBus.
The new RHS Greenway provides a direct traffic-free route to the Garden. The Greenway runs along the Bridgewater Canal from Worsley and Boothstown – see RHS Bridgewater website. National Route 55 and local cycle routes also pass nearby. There are cycle racks for 100 bikes. Plan your cycle route here.
The new RHS Greenway now links the Bridgewater Canal towpath (Bridgewater Way) to the Garden – see the RHS Bridgewater website for details of bus routes serving each end of the Greenway, and videos of the route. The Salford Trail and other local walking routes also pass nearby.

By tram to The Trafford Centre
You can hop on the Metrolink tram to The Trafford Centre and then catch bus 126 or bus 132 from the bus station (Stand 3) to the Garden (Occupation Road). It’s an about 5-minute walk from tram to bus and 10-minute walk from bus to Garden.
Summer bus from Manchester
There are also regular public buses from Manchester city centre. Stagecoach bus 35 runs frequently (less on Sundays) from Piccadilly Gardens (Stop P) to Worsley (Occupation Road), near the Garden. It’s about a 45-minute ride, followed by a 10-minute walk.
