Buses stop nearby from: Wrexham (25 mins), Ruabon (5 mins), Llangollen (10 mins), Chirk (15 mins), Bala (65 mins), Dollgelau (110 mins) and Barmouth (2.5 hrs).
Scenic train lines run to Wrexham from: Bidston (Wirral), Birmingham (100 mins), Chester (15 mins, change from Crewe or Manchester), Shrewsbury (35 mins) and Wolverhampton (80 mins).
Buses run to Wrexham bus station from: Chester (45 mins), Corwen (50 mins), Llay (20 mins), Mold (50 mins), Oswestry (50 mins), Whitchurch (50 mins) and further afield.

Getting to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct car-free
Here's our recommended route to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. To get bus and train times and walking routes use our journey planner.
By bus
Bus 5 and bus T3 run frequently (less on Sundays) from:
- Wrexham bus station (25-30 mins),
- Ruabon (5-10 mins),
- Llangollen (10 mins).
Jump off at the Trevor Old Station shelter (ask the driver to tell you when). It’s then a 5-10 minute stroll to either Pontcysyllt Aqueduct or Little Star.
Bus T3 also runs from:
- Bala (65 mins),
- Dollgelau (110 mins),
- Barmouth (2hrs 25 mins).

Bus 64 runs from:
- Chirk (15 mins),
- Llangollen (15 mins).
It stops a 15 minute walk away at Alma Road.

- Wirral: Bidston (65 mins) Bidston is 15 minutes from Liverpool Lime Street, Heswall (55 mins)

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (Pont – ker – sulth – tay) is a UNESCO listed feat of engineering in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Llangollen canal route includes 31 other listed structures, and is a popular walking and boating route. At the visitor centre you can watch videos and play in a children's activity area.
