Buses X4, 554  and 73 run a few times per day and stop outside Mirehouse & Gardens. The journey takes about 10 minutes. Jump off at Skiddaw Osprey Viewpoint, the car-park for the Forestry Commission’s Dodd Wood. Cross the road for the Mirehouse & Gardens entrance, and walk for 5 minutes to reach the house.

There also direct buses to Mirehouse & Gardens from: Carlisle (about 70 mins, buses X4, 554  and 73), Cockermouth (20 mins, bus X4), Penrith (60 mins, bus X4), Wigton (35 mins, bus 554) and Workington (45 mins, bus X4).

There are direct trains to Penrith from: Oxenholme (25 mins), Lancaster (40 mins), Preston (55 mins), Carlisle (15 mins), Lockerbie (35 mins), Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and London.
