It’s easy to visit Little Hall in Lavenham car-free.

Buses from Bury St Edmunds or Sudbury take about 30 minutes.

There are direct trains to Bury St Edmunds from: Cambridge (30 mins), Ipswich (30 mins), Ely (25 mins) and Stowmarket (20 mins).

Sudbury is 20 minutes from Marks Tey, which has trains from Colchester (5 mins), Chelmsford (25 mins), Ipswich (25 mins) and East London (30-60 mins). There are direct buses to Sudbury from Colchester (50 mins) and Ipswich (75 mins).

Find the best bus ticket for you from Hedingham and Chambers (buses to Lavenham, between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds via Long Melford, and to Sudbury from Colchester). Greater Anglia Rail has a range of train ticket discounts and offers at events and attractions.

Scenic Gainsborough Line to Sudbury has an audio tour and talking benches at Marks Tey train station.

Cycle routes National Route 13 and the Wolf Way pass outside Little Hall, running between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds, from where you can hire an electric bike. Plan your route here.

From Lavenham, there’s also a wooded walk and walk to Long Melford (about 100 mins), then onto central Sudbury (another 90 mins). Long Melford is on bus routes 753 and 750 between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds or Clare.

About Little Hall Lavenham

Little Hall is a 14th Century Hall House mirroring the history of Lavenham from the 1390s as a family house and workplace, extended in the 16th century, became tenements in the 19th and was restored in the 1930s by the Gayer-Anderson twins. It now contains their collection of pictures and artefacts. Hear from our friendly, informative guides.
