About Lacock

Lacock Abbey, located at the heart of the village within its own woodland grounds, is a country house of various architectural styles, built upon the foundations of a former nunnery.

The Fox Talbot Museum celebrates the achievements of former Lacock resident, William Henry Fox Talbot, famous for his contributions to the invention of photography. The museum hosts changing exhibitions in the upper gallery space, and the Abbey often runs photography related workshops and activities during the school holidays.

There’s a National Trust shop and café in the village, as well as independent businesses and places to eat and drink. The historic courtyard has a tea-room which opens during busy periods, and a second-hand bookshop.

With gardens that change with the seasons and a programme of events and activities running throughout the year, Lacock offers something for all ages.
