Visit Heights of Abraham car-free
It’s easy to reach Heights of Abraham car-free. There are regular trains to Matlock Bath from Derby and Matlock and frequent direct buses from Derby, Ashbourne, Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton. A walkway leads from the station to the Cable Car base station, and the bus stops are just a couple of minutes walk away. It’s just a couple of minutes riverside walk from the train or bus stops to the Cable Car.

There are two rover tickets offering unlimited train and bus travel in the Peak District, including travel to Matlock Bath – the Wayfarer Ticket and the Derbyshire Wayfarer Ticket.
If travelling by train, you can save money on bus fares by adding a PlusBus ticket for Buxton or Matlock to your train ticket.
If you travel by train to Matlock or Buxton, you can reach the Heights of Abraham with a PlusBus bus ticket. However, a train to Matlock Bath is not covered.

Getting to Heights of Abraham car-free
Here's our recommended route to Heights of Abraham. To get bus and train times and walking routes use our journey planner.
By train
There are regular trains to Matlock Bath from Matlock and Derby, with connections in Derby from Nottingham and other many cities.
On Sundays trains run direct from Nottingham, Beeston, Long Eaton and Derby to Matlock Bath and Matlock.
Follow the access-for-all walkway straight Matlock Bath station to Heights of Abraham cable car.
By bus
The Transpeak bus runs regularly (less on Sunday) from Derby, Belper, Buxton, Bakewell to Matlock Bath.
Bus 6.1 (the Sixes) runs hourly between Derby, Duffield, Belper, Wirksworth and Cromford to Matlock Bath. It also runs from Bakewell and Matlock.
Bus 110 and bus 111 run from Ashbourne to Matlock Bath.
There are also frequent buses from Sheffield, Chesterfield, The Peak Villages, Clay Cross and Alfreton to Matlock, from where you can catch a train or bus for the short journey to Matlock Bath, or walk (30 minutes).
If you are travelling from Manchester catch the train from Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton, then cross the road to catch Transpeak bus to Matlock Bath.
