Visit Dover Castle car-free
From Dover Town Centre, it is a mile’s uphill walk to the castle, or you can hop on bus 81 to save the climb. There are frequent buses to Dover from Canterbury and Folkestone, whilst the bus route from Sandwich, Deal and Walmer stops right outside the castle.
From further afield you can reach Dover easily by train from London and most Kent towns.

Dover Priory has frequent Southeastern Trains: from London St Pancras International via Stratford International; from London Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge via Sevenoaks and Tonbridge; from London Victoria via Bromley South, Chatham, Sittingbourne and Canterbury East.
Local trains run to Dover from Ramsgate via Sandwich, Deal and Walmer, and from Ashford International via Folkestone Central (with connections at Ashford from Brighton, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings).
From Dover Priory station, it’s less than 10 minutes’ walk to Pencester Road (Stop A) to catch bus 81 for the short ride uphill to the Castle entrance (or an energetic one mile walk all the way).
