Ferries from Nigg take about 10-minutes to reach Cromarty.

Check bus fares from Inverness to Cromarty here. If you take a visit to Inverness by train, an Inverness PlusBus ticket can be used to explore within the city. However, you cannot travel as far as Cromarty.
Views are best from the top deck of bus 26. After you cross the Kessock Bridge over the sea, look out for Terns at Avoch, among the farms and gorse.
Watch out for dolphins, seals (and oil) on the little ferry from Nigg.
Train rides on the Far North Line to Inverness can be accompanied with audio or visual guides.

Getting to Cromarty Courthouse car-free

By ferry from Nigg
Between April and September there is a frequent summer ferry between Nigg and Cromarty. The journey takes about 10 minutes.
It’s then about a 10-minute walk in-land along Blank Street (opposite). Turn Right onto the (narrow) High Street. Turn Right again at the phone box into Church Street.
By bus from Inverness
Buses 26, 26A and 126 run from Inverness to Cromarty, via Avoch and Fortrose.
- Buses 26 and bus 26A leave from Inverness bus station stance 4 regularly. The journey takes 45-60 minutes.
- Buses 26, 26A and 126 also leave from Seafield Road. The journey takes 60-65 minutes.
Jump off at The Links, a wooden bus shelter with sea views.
The bus shelter is by the beach carpark. Turn Right out of the carpark and away from the sea on Forsyth Place. Turn Left at the phonebox onto Church Street. As you plan your day, it may be worth noting that Cromarty has three eateries, a short walk away.
