About Cornwall House, Monmouth

Cornwall House at number 58, Monnow Street, is the last remaining privately occupied house in the main shopping street of Monmouth. You can visit the main rooms and the gardens.

It is a town house, dating back to at least the 17th-century. The red brick garden façade is in the Queen Anne style, dating from 1752 when the house belonged to the Rev Henry Burgh, son of the Duke of Beaufort’s agent, John Burgh.

The street façade was remodelled in the Georgian style (date unknown). Many original features remain, including a fine staircase. The house still has the original 1750s walled kitchen garden. Please come to the centre door.

Cornwall House is only open on selected dates. Visit the website to check the dates before you travel.
