It’s easy as Callendar House is a walk in the park from Falkirk.

Buses run from: Stirling (45 mins), Glasgow (70 mins) and Edinburgh (85 mins), plus a walk.

Trains run from: Stirling (10-15 mins), Glasgow (20 mins) and Edinburgh (30 mins).

A Falkirk & Larbert PlusBus ticket gives you unlimited bus travel as far as Grangemouth, Bonnybridge and Denny. Falkirk is in East Scotland’s OneTicket zone 3.

Callendar Park itself has a free Roman-themed playpark.

Cycle path National Route 754 runs off-road from Linlithgow along the canal. The Falkirk Explored app has more local cycling information.

The bike rack at Callendar House is at the west side of the house (near the car park) and is locked but keys are available from reception. Plan your cycle route here to the bike rack location.

Walk the John Muir Way right up to the house, which is also a stamping location for the passport scheme. You can also walk around the woods neighbouring the park. The Falkirk Explored app has more walking information.

About Callendar House

Dating from the 14th century Callendar House is set with the historic designed landscape of Callendar Park, which also contains a section of the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site.
It holds displays on the history of the house, the Antonine Wall and the history of Falkirk from the 1750-1850. There are also changing temporary exhibitions, the wonderful Georgian Kitchen and the archives set within the stunning Victorian library.

The tearoom is a must with its stunning view of the parkland and a much-needed refuelling point if you want to explore the park and woodland beyond. There is also a gift shop filled with local products and even ice cream for your dog!
