Audley End House and Gardens is halfway between Audley end train station and Saffron Walden town.
There are frequent buses to Saffron Walden from Cambridge (7 days a week), and from Bishop’s Stortford, Great Dunmow, Haverhill, Stansted Airport and Thaxted (except Sundays).
There are frequent trains to Audley End daily from London Liverpool Street, Tottenham Hale, Harlow Town, Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted Airport, also from Cambridge with connections from further afield. From Audley End station you can hop in a taxi, or it’s just over a mile’s walk (beside a main road road) to Audley End.

Getting to Audley End House and Gardens car-free

By bus from Cambridge
Stagecoach East bus 7 runs every hour Monday to Saturday from Cambridge City Centre (Emmanuel Street, Stop E) and Cambridge train station (Stop 3). The journey takes about 1 hour.
C G Myall bus 132 runs every 2 hours from Cambridge Drummer Street Bus Station (Bay 7), also picking up at Cambridge Railway Station (Stop 3).
For Audley End House, hop off the bus at Saffron Walden High Street, from where it’s a half hour walk to Audley End House.
By bus from Great Dunmow or Stanstead Airport Coach Station
Stephensons bus 313 and bus 314 run every hour from Great Dunmow, whilst Central Connect bus 316 runs every hour from Stansted Airport Coach Station (Bay 13). Both routes call at Thaxted. These routes operate Monday to Saturday only, with journey times of around 45 minutes.
For Audley End House, hop off the bus at Saffron Walden High Street, from where it’s a half hour walk to Audley End House.
By bus from Bishop's Stortford or Haverhill
Central Connect bus 301 runs every hour from Bishop’s Stortford, whilst Stephensons bus 60 and Central Connect Buses 319, 320 and 321 run every hour from Haverhill. Both routes run Monday to Saturday only, with journey times of 35 to 45 minutes.
For Audley End House, hop off the bus at Saffron Walden Council Offices, from where it’s about 20 minute’s walk to Audley End House.
By train
Greater Anglia trains run frequently to Audley End from London Liverpool Street, Tottenham Hale, Harlow Town, Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted Airport, also from Cambridge. Journey time from London is about 1 hour, from Cambridge about 20 minutes.
There are regular connections available at Cambridge from Birmingham, Leicester, Peterborough and Ely, from Stevenage and Hitchin, from King’s Lynn, also from Norwich.
From Audley End Railway Station it’s a 30 minute walk along a main road to Audley End House or you can hop in a taxi.
Alternatively or you can catch a bus to Saffron Walden, for a shorter walk along a quieter road to the House (buses run twice an hour, except Sundays. Hop off the bus at Saffron Walden Council Offices, for a 20-minute walk to Audley End House.
