By train
Ride the train to Chappel & Wakes Colne – on the Gainsborough Line. The museum is right by the station. It’s an easy journey from London, Chelmsford, Colchester or Ipswich, changing at Marks Tey.
By bus
Bus 88/88A runs direct from Colchester Osbourne Street (Stop Ac) to Wakes Colne, in just 30 minutes. Buses run every half hour Monday to Saturday and every two hours on Sunday.
It’s a 5-minute walk from the bus stop, up Station Road, to the Museum.

About East Anglian Railway Museum
Discover the history of railways in the East of England at this family-friendly working museum. Get up close to vintage carriages, steam and diesel locomotives and explore the restoration shed and working signal boxes. Enjoy the railway carriage cafe. Open every day, 10am-4.30pm (except Christmas & Boxing day). Check the website for special vintage, steam and classic car events and beer festivals.
